Come learn to make balms and salves with beeswax from the Mac Campus apiary! We’ll talk about the properties of beeswax and the process of rendering wax for use in balms, and then introduce you to different ingredient ratios that can be adapted to make anything from lip balm to leather conditioner. After the intro, we'll help you to make simple salves by combining beeswax with your choice of oils (olive/coconut/jojoba) and butters (shea/cocoa).
Materials are provided, but if there is a particular essential oil you would like to use to scent your salve, feel free to bring it along. Each participant will get to bring home a 120mL tin of their own handmade salve and a set of instructions for making more.
Please sign up at the MCSS counter by leaving your name, email, and an $8 fee to cover the cost of materials. There are 20 spots available total - you can sign up for either the 12:30pm-2:30pm slot (10 places) or the 3pm-5pm slot (10 places).
**Note: some of the materials may contain nuts or traces of nuts
